Regarding pottery and ceramics, there are many places in Japan that specialize in it. Some of the more noteworthy are in Kyoto, Hagi (Yamaguchi Prefecture), Arita (Saga Prefecture), and Tsuboya in Naha (Okinawa). All but the last place can be accessed by rail.

Also I realise I must buy at least a 21day jr pass. In the rainy season is the green seats necessary? As its not peak time. Do I need to travel around Tokyo another kind of ticket . As I plan to stay there few days before starting the jr pass.
Thanks

Without knowing your plans it's impossible to tell if a 21 day pass is worth it or not. About the green seats, it's simply more space and luxury, but hardly necessary. You cannot use the pass on city subways etc. But there is a subway pass you can also buy:

I am sorry but I don't know anything about contemporary jewellery galleries in Japan.

I have found great info on Japan national tourist information re ceramics also. I do appreciate all your help.
This is the Itinerary
Tokyo
Omiya
Kanazawa
Naoshima
Kyoto
Aioi
Osaka
Kanazawa
Tokyo
I'm hoping this is in the logical order . Could I do this with a 21day pass . Plus Tokyo ticket?

Yes, the 21 day pass would pay off with your itinerary. Any time left on your pass in Tokyo could be used for the JR Yamanote line also.
