hi, mari

i have a question about 14 day pass, i will stay 15 days in japan and i will visit
Tokyo for a week to visit almost all attractions and parks there and also plan to take a few days trips to KAMAKURA and Nikkon

also plan to stay one day takayama
them to be in Osaka like my base to visit day trips in Kyoto and Nara
i will try to stay 4 days and them visit Hiroshima and for last day visit Miyajima and them take the train to go back to Tokyo

still i need to program how many day i will stay in the locations or just day trip,

but my question is that with 14 day pass i can visit all the places?

is better to stay few days in kyoto and others day in osaka, or stay in osaka and constant travel to kyoto (is only 30 minutes)?

and my last question, i see the map of tokyo metro http://www.tokyotopia.com/support-files/jr-train-map.pdf , how i can know what stations or train work with jr pass and what other need to buy metro tickets?

any recommendation of other places i can visit,? because is my first time visit japan and i really want to know and enjoy a lot about japan is my favorite country.

thanks for your help, i know is a long questions and my English is not perfect so im sorry because that

thanks for your time

Niko

Hi Niko,

Here are some answers for you (great english by the way!):

Yes, you can use the JR Pass for all the locations you list. You can also use the JR Pass extensively inside Tokyo using the JR network. Rather than looking at the metro map, you may want to look at the map of JR lines around Tokyo to help you plan. You may want to supplement this with metro tickets or prepaid metro cards such as the PASMO card which you can purchase on arrival in Tokyo.

Personally, I think it's best to stay in Kyoto or Osaka for the period you are there as they are indeed very close. Osaka arguably has the better nightlife, but Kyoto will have more of a traditional feel in the evening. Your choice of city will very much depends on what sort of nightlife you are looking for I think.

For other recommendations, I really recommend you look into staying in Koyasan, and a trip to Kinosaki Onsen (no trip to Japan is complete without an Onsen experience!)

Hope this helps!
