Good day. If I purchase a JR PASS. I understand I can travel on the night trains( I am aware of the additional payments) The problem is that the compartments sell out extremely fast. is it possible to reserve it somehow on the phone before arriving toi Japan? is it possible l to reserve it before exchanging the exchange order to rail pass?

Hi there,
You could just reserve an limited express ticket and use the JR Pass to cover the basic fare. However reserving will be hard, you'll have to speak good enough Japanese to explain the situation and call right on time when reservations are open. Which is 30 days before departure.
