Hello, quick check - only the JR Pass needs to be purchase in the home country and exchanged upon arrival in Japan is that correct? All other passes - Hokkaido Furri Pass, discount tickets etc can be purchased upon arrival in Japan? I understand this forum is for Rail Passes only. My question pertains to Hokkaido specifically. And I am looking at the S Four Ticket. Thank you for any help.

Hi there,
Yes the JR Pass has the be purchased outside of Japan.
Most other regional passes may be purchased in Japan. This also applies for the Hokkaido discount tickets.
Hope this answers your question.
