Hi!

I will be travelling with my family to visit Nagoya for around 2-3 days and after that, staying in Tokyo for around 7-9 days around Nov.

There are 2 adults and 1 child and I was wondering if I should get JR Pass, Regional Pass or focus more on the Tokyo Wide Pass (under JR East)?

It seemed that Tokyo Wide Pass under JR East is the best option when we are in Tokyo but I am unable to reserve tickets now and furthermore, the Tokyo Wide Pass is only valid for 3 days.

Would appreciate some help and advice! Thanks!

Hi there,

The JR East passes do not cover travel between Tokyo and Nagoya. So these don't make sense.

The only pass good for the Tokaido Shinkansen between Tokyo - Nagoya is the Japan Rail Pass. Depending on your other travel is maybe an option, otherwise getting normal tickets will be the better option.

Kind regards,
Daniel
