Hello,

I will be staying in Kyoto for 5 days with 1 day trip to Nara, Osaka for 2 and Mount Koya for 1.

Do i need to buy a Kansai thru pass to get around locally?

Im a little confused. What is the recommendation? I thought my JR rail pass will get me to each location.

Thanks!

Frankie

Hi there,

The JR Pass will cover travel between Kyoto/Osaka/Nara and other parts of Kansai. Only to Koya is it where you will have to pay for the last part of the journey. You may use the JR Pass to travel all the way to Osaka or Hashimoto and travel from there to Koya.

More details may be found here:

Hope this helps!
Daniel
