Hi,

My family and I will be staying at the Grand Pacific le Daiba. We are planning to buy a 7 day JR pass.
1) what is the exact transportation (JR, metro, subway) we need to take for a 1 day return trip to Mt Fuji?
2) we will be taking the JR train to Osaka. Again, what is the transportation?
3) can we use JR pass only to get into central Tokyo?
4) what is the nearest JR station to the hotel?

Thank you. We are looking forward to our trip.

Hi there,

1.) That depends on what area around Fuji you wish to visit, the mountain is actually pretty huge and has different approaches / areas to visit. I can give you a route if you let me know where around Fuji you want to explore.

2.) You can take the Shinkansen directly from Tokyo - Shin-Osaka station, from Shin-Osaka local trains run throughout the city and can be used for travel to your accommodation.

3.) Yes the JR Pass is valid for travel into Tokyo but is also great for travel within Tokyo as it covers transport to all its 23 wards.

4.) There's no JR station close to your hotel, my advice would be to use the JR to travel to Shimbashi station then from there take the Monorail (Yurakucho service) to your hotel.

Hope this helps!

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply. I am looking for detail, step by step, instructions.

1) Hakone area

2) from my hotel, how do I get to the Shinkansen train? What subway do I take? My understanding is that the Daiba station is outside the hotel. If I take this station, where do I get off? Is there another route.

3) If we want to go to Ginza shopping, what is the step by step route that we need to take.

Thank you

Hi again,

1 and 2 .) For Hakone I would recommend travelling to Odawara, this is the Shinkansen station for Hakone. It's pretty easy to get there, it basically means travelling to Tokyo station and from there you can use the Shinkansen. HERE is a map with possible train connections you can take from your Hotel. My recommendation would be to take the Yurakimome to Shimbashi station and from there a local JR line to Tokyo station.

3.) Basically the same as above, Ginza is within 10 min walk from Tokyo station. You could also take the train from Shimbashi station to Yurakucho instead which is only 5min walk away from Ginza.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
