Hello there,

We will stay at Westin in Tokyo when returning from Hiroshima this Wed. Pls advise:

  1. Which JR station we should get off (the Shinjuku station or the Tokyo station)?

  2. Which Shinkansen route/station we should use when going to Mt. Fuji from Tokyo? Wanted to join a tour to get there, but most of them are booked until April 15.

Many thanks.

Hi there,

Your hotels seems to be between Ebisu and Meguro stations on the JR Yamanote line. I would recommend taking the Shinkansen to Tokyo station and then the Yamanote line to either one of these stations.

2.) It depends on where around Fuji you wish to visit. Fuji Five Lakes is a very popular place to visit as a day trip from Tokyo. The first lake is Kawaguchiko and you can have a beautiful view of Fuji there (weather permitting). To get there, take a local train from Tokyo station to Otsuki. Here you transfer to the Fujikyu line to Kawaguchiko. The Fujikyu line is not covered by the JR Pass an requires a 1,150yen fare.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

For Fuji you could either go to Hakone or the Fuji 5 Lakes Area. Both have great views when the weather cooperates and are basically on opposite sides of it. Hikone has one advantage of a lot of varied other things to see and do in case the weather isn't on your side.
