Unsure whether a JR Pass will benefit me

Hi, we are due to travel mid August. We are travelling down to Nagoya for a few days and then residing in Yokohama. Our plan is to stay in Yokohama and travel just around all of Tokyo area. If we purchase the JR rail pass, will this cover us on any bullet train and will it also cover us on all regular trains just around Tokyo?

Also, we will have two hand luggage suitcases and one big checked luggage bag, what is the luggage space like for the ordinary JR pass in comparison to the green class option?

Hi there,

A JR Pass will not help you save money if you just do a return Yokohama - Nagoya, but it would if you did it twice :)

The JR Pass also covers the JR Network around Tokyo and Yokohama.

Luggage allowance is the same for Green and Ordinary cars, but luggage can easier be stored in the latter, since there are fewer people to travel in the Green car.
