Hello,

I will be going to Japan this September and here is my itinerary. Planning to buy 7 days JR Pass with Kansai Thru Pass but I am not sure if there is a cheaper way to go about it. Can you tell me if I can save more money using JR Pass?

Day 1- Kansai Airport to Osaka
Day 2 - Osaka to Nara to Osaka
Day 3 - Osaka to Kyoto
Day 4 - Kyoto area
Day 5 - Kyoto to Tokyo
Day 6 - Tokyo to Mt Fuji Kawaguchiko
Day 7 - Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Ginza
Day 8 - Ueno, Akihabara, Ikebukuro, Odaiba
Day 9 - Disneyland
Day 10 - Yotsuya, Yoyogi, Ueno - Narita Airport

If you think of a better pass to use with this itinerary I am open to suggestions.

Any insight will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

For this route, I do not think you would make savings with a JR Pass. A JR Pass is recommended if you do return trip Tokyo - Kyoto or more. You are basically going one way, with a number of stops.

Kind regards,
Daniel

I see...is there any pass that you can recommend? Can I use JR Pass going around Tokyo? Like the whole Yamanote line, and Sobu Line?

Yes, the JR Pass covers all lines in Tokyo.

But even then, I think you'd be better off buying local passes/single tickets.
