Organising train travel - JR Pass or not?

Two of us will be travelling in October, on our second visit to Japan.
Should I buy my tickets individually or are there any passes that would be better to use?

the broad itinerary is over 15 days, putting it outside of a 14 day JR Pass.
DAY1 tokyo to Aizu Wakamatsu
DAY6 Koriyama to Kanazawa
DAY 9 Kanazawa to Odawara
DAY 12 Odawara to Kyoto
DAY 15 Kyoto to Kansai airport.
While in Kyoto we might do some local train travel as well,

Hi there,

It’s likely that for your itinerary it would be more cost-effective to purchase your tickets individually. If you plan on making use of local transportation in Kyoto I’d suggest seeing if you can pick up a Suica (or equivalent) card from the airport in Tokyo, that can also be used in Tokyo.

Hope this helps!
