Hi, this is my first trip to Japan. I will only stay for 5 days 4 nights (reaching 1st day 7.30 AM in Narita Airport, and leaving 5th day 8 PM from Narita Airport).

May I ask whether Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass applicable for:
- Trip from Narita Airport to Kyoto - Local trips in Kyoto - Trip from Kyoto to Osaka - Local trips in Osaka - Trip from Osaka to Tokyo - Local trips in Tokyo

What will be the difference if I buy JR Pass?

Thank you for your response.

Hi there,

Yes, the Hokuriku Pass will cover your rail travel for these trips, but won't cover much local travel in Kyoto/Osaka/Tokyo, apart from the Osaka Loop line and Yamanote line in Osaka and Tokyo respectively.

The main difference between the Hokuriku Pass and JR Pass for your itinerary, is that the JR Pass will allow you to travel on the Tokaido Shinkansen, rather than via the Hokuriku Arch. This will considerably lower your travel time between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
