Hi,
I'm planning a 14 day trip around April 2025. Already got my flights booked as well as the stays for all days (all stays with free cancelling so I'm still free to change my plans around).
This is my current plan:
- Arrive at Tokyo
- 5 nights in Tokyo (+1 in Hakone)
- Travel to Kyoto and stay for 3 nights
- Travel to Osaka and stay for 2 nights (1 day trip to Nara)
- Travel to Himeji, day around Himeji and later that day travel to Hiroshima.
- Stay in Hiroshima for 2 nights (1 day trip to Miyajima Island)
- Enjoy the third day around Hiroshima before traveling back to Osaka where I'll be going to the hotel close to the airport I'll depart from the next morning.
From what I've seen the general JR Pass isn't worth unless we use the shinkansen a lot of times. So I'll pay for the Shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto separately.
That being said, it looks to me that the last days: [Osaka -> Himeji -> Hiroshima -> Miyajima -> Hiroshima -> Osaka] could benefit from the regional "Kansai - Hiroshima Area Pass" as both trips between Osaka and Hiroshima would cost about the same as the regional pass.
Am I correct with these assumptions?
Also, if I end up opting for the regional pass, can I purchase it online and use it with an app or will I require a physical card/voucher?
Thank you in advance!
