TOKYO-HAKUBA-TOKYO -KYOTO-TOKYO

We are travelling to Japan on 22/12/22 3 xADULT 2 X KIDS.

Arrive 22/12-24/12 TOKYO
24/12 Travel to Hakuba
Ski 24/12 - 30/12
30/12 RETURN to Tokyo
2/1 Travel to KYOTO until 4/1
Possible trip to Osaka whilst in Kyoto
Depart TOKYO for Australia 5/1.

My question is if we purchase the 14 day JR pass for 22/12 but really only using it for 2 days in Tokyo and to travel to HAKUBA 24/12. Then we ski for the remainder of the first 7 DAys. The second seven days the pass will be used everyday. Is the 14 day pass the cheapest option to get to HAKUBA at the start of our trip and in a reasonable amount of time.

Cheers

Hi Aussie travelers,

You don't "need a pass" to travel in Japan, in many cases it will help you make savings but sometimes it won't. Especially if you're staying locally, such as in your Ski resort. I think the best option would be to get a 7-day JR Pass for travel to Kyoto, Osaka and back to Tokyo. Then use an express bus for the first trip to Hakuba.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
