Can't figure out if I need it

Hi,

I'm planning my first trip to Japan in few months. I'm going to be traveling locally in Kyushu for 4 days, and 4 days in Tokyo.
I'm flying into Fukuoka and flying out of Tokyo. I plan on taking the shinkansen from Fukuoka to Tokyo. Would a JR Rail pass
be worth buying since I'm only going to need the bullet train one way?

Thank you,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

A one way ticket Fukuoka - Hakata is ¥ 23,390, the cost of a 7-day JR Pass is ¥ 29,650. That means just about 6.000yen of travel to start making savings.

I'm not sure what you'll do in Kyushu, or if you plan on any stops along the way, but if you do, then the JR Pass might quickly become worth it.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
