Shin Yokohama to Osaka (JR Namba)

Hi,

Route: Yokohama - Osaka - Kyoto - Yokohama

My family will be travelling to Japan. We initially be coming from Yokoyama and then travel to Osaka then Kyoto. I am aware that we should start from Shin-Yokohama heading to Osaka. I would like to know the ff:

  1. Since we are going to JR Namba (Dotonbori). We will ride a non-JR pass train aside from the JR pass train. Is that correct?
  2. Those specific lines are Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen and Midosuji Line. Is this the correct line/train that we should take?
  3. I am quite confused with the JR pass. What should we buy if we are just to explore Osaka and Kyoto and then back to Yokohama?
  4. Do we also buy the pasmo/suica card aside from the JR Pass? I researched that we still need to ride non-JR trains and so those cards will help a lot. Is this correct?

Hi there,

  1. The JR Namba Station can be accessed from Tennoji station. Here you can transfer to the JR Yamatoji Line Local bound for JR Namba - All included in the JR Pass!
  2. Yes, those lines work for your itinerary.
  3. Because you'll be making several journeys using the shinkansen, it's likely that the JR Pass will be worth it - it also includes the Osaka Loop Metro, to help you explore Osaka.
  4. Yes, the pasmo is seperate to the JR Pass, used predominantly for metro and buses.
