Hi. Me and husband Arriving Osaka by august 10. Pls advise on best transport to use.
Our plan is:
Aug. 10 arrive KIX 8pm (overnight in osaka)
Aug. 11 ( explore osaka )
Aug. 12 ( explore kyoto from osaka and overnight stay)
Aug. 13 ( travel to kamakura, stay with friend to save on accomodations)
Aug. 14 to 17 morning ( explore tokyo, yokohama and any other suggestions? ) will be travelling to and from kamakura.
Aug. 17 ( return to kansai airport for 850pm flight)
Pls advise. Will it be worth buying 7 days JR pass for two? Osaka pass? Or just buy local? All other suggestions are welcome. Thanks much.

Hi there,

I do think that it would be worth it to consider a 7 day JR Pass. A normal return ticket on the Shinkansen between Osaka - Tokyo is about the same price as the 7 day JR Pass. Any extra travel is what you save, since you plan to explore a lot (Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura) this could end up saving you quite a bit of money. A personal recommendation would be to visit Nikko as well.

The JR Pass is also good for local travel around Osaka on the JR Network, which includes the Osaka loop line. This will allows you to see most of Osaka without the need for additional tickets.

Hope this helps!

Hi there, I need some advice.

We plan to travel from Osaka (5 days) - Kyoto (2 days) - Matsumoto (2 days) then Tokyo (5 days). Is JR pass still worth buying for both of us? What are the best cheapest mean of transportation while we are in those cities? Can we buy the tickets online?

Thanks.

Eunice

Hi Eunice,

I would recommend buying normal tickets as you travel. This would be a more economic option than a JR Pass because your travel is somewhat limited in terms of distance.
You can purchase the tickets as any JR Station once you are in Japan.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for a very quick reply. I really appreciate it.

By the way, what is meant by the normal tickets?

Thanks

Hi Eunice,

With a normal ticket, I mean just a ticket you buy at the station before you board the train. (Instead of a pass or online booking)>
