Hello! I'm an American working and living in Okinawa. I don't have temporary visitor status and it would seem I'm not eligible for a JR Rail Pass. If that is correct how can I purchase JR Line tickets in advance from Okinawa. Any guidance greatly appreciated!

That's indeed correct, you will not be able to use a JR Pass I'm afraid. You should be able to go to a local travel agent in Okinawa that can issue tickets, or through Eki-Net (in Japanese).
