Hi Daniel-San,
I plan to order the JR Pass to visit Hokkaido with my family and would like to know if JRPass covers the following destinations or do we have to buy pass for local train.
Here is what we like to do:
Day 1: From Hakodate to Shirogane
Day 2: From Shirogane to Otaru
Day 3: From Otaru to Sapporo
Day 4: From Sapporo to Chitose airport.

Hi Lan_Z,
The JR Pass and Hokkaido Rail Pass cover the same in Hokkaido.
It will cover all travel between the cities you visit, as for Shirogane, this is quite a wide area and the JR Pass gets you pretty close. Having said that, you may still need extra travel if you want to visit different points of interest within the Shirogane area.
