I plan to stay in Nagoya and do day trips to Kyoto and Takayama. Is it worth to buy a pass and if so, which one?

Hello there,
It would depend on how many day trips you'd make.
For instance a return Nagoya - Kyoto is ¥ 11,180 while Takayama - Nagoya is ¥ 12,060. The 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110, so you could make savings if you cover that amount.
It's as simple as that :)
