I will travel to Japan for 7 days during July 13-19. My schedule is
July 13-15 .. In Osaka (use train for travel inside Osaka)
July 15 .. from Shin-Osaka to Shibuya Tokyo by train
July 15-19 ... In Tokyo (use train for travel inside tokyo).

I need some advice to purchase train tickets during my trip. Which way is the best choice in term of money & time? Does Japan have one ticket/ pass that can be used both in Osaka & Tokyo & traveling from Osaka to Tokyo? Can we buy it online?

Hello there,

For this itinerary you'll be best off buying normal tickets. A 7 day JR Pass would be a good option if you made a return Tokyo - Osaka (or visa versa).

The tickets can't be purchased online but you can do so at any JR station. Its also handy to buy an ic card like ICOCA.

It's also possible to buy day passes for the metro in Tokyo, these can be handy if you plan on traveling a lot and cost around 750yen per dayn.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you for your prompt response. However, it will be a one way trip from Osaka to Tokyo and i will fly out from Tokyo. Is a 7-day JR Pass still be the best choice?

Hi BR,

As mentioned, buying normal train tickets is the best option for you.
