Hi,

I will be arrving in Kansai Airport and will leave at Narita airport after 9 days.
I would like advise on JR pass or ICOCA card or something else.

I woudl spend about 2 nights in Osaka, Kyoto
Travel from Osaka to Nagoya - stay 1 night
Travel from Nagoya to Yokohama - stay 1 night
Thereafter stay in Tokyo for the 4 days with a night over at Hakone.

Is it advisable to get JR 7 day pass ? in the various city, my family would like to explore the city via subway, metro etc.

Thanks for your advise.

Regards,
Sim

Hi Sim,

I checked your itinerary for the best options and see whether a JR Pass would be useful. However I would recommend buying normal tickets for this one.The JR Pass makes for a very good option when you make a return Tokyo - Osaka, however now you basically travel one way, with a stop at Nagoya and Yokohama and normal tickets would be a better option./

You can certainly purchase an ICOCA card to make your travels more easy. The ICOCA card is usable on nearly every kind of local transport, so it's easy to get around.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel-san.

I am also thinking about going to Nikko as part of trip from Tokyo and would like to stay a night in a Ryokan.
At Nikko, wouldl visit Toshogu shrine and Edo world and at evening, stay in Ryokan.

Any recommendation on Ryokans which is easily accessible from where i am visiting.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Sim

Hi Sim,

I don't have a particular Ryokan in mind. However Nikko is a very small town and any Ryokan within Nikko is easily accessible.

I stayed in a local guest house near the station, which was also a great place to stay.

PS: sorry for the late follow up, I somehow missed your replay.

Enjoy!
Daniel
