hi!
I'm planning to arrive in Osaka at noon on a monday (April, 11th) and go to Kyoto, where i'll be based, and then visit the cities of Nara, Hineji e Hakone on my way to finish the trip in Tokyo. I'll stay a week in Tokyo and the i'll go to Haneda Airport on April 25th.
I wonder if it's better to buy the 7 days pass or the 14 days pass. Is the pass valid on public transports in Tokyo? Or it's cheaper to buy a different kind of pass there?
Please help me decide!
Thank's , Fernanda

Hi Fernanda,
Here are the savings you could make with the JR-Pass
Kansai Airport -> Kyoto :¥ 3,290
Kyoto Nara ¥ 1,380 (return)
Kyoto Himeji (return) ¥ 9,860
Kyoto --> Odawara ¥ 11,550 (for Hakone)
Odawara --> Tokyo ¥ 3,440
For a total of ¥ 29,520 the 7 Day JRPass is ¥ 28,300 Yen so you would save at least ¥ 1,220.
It could be worth it if you can fit the above itinerary in the 7 day period.
The JRPass is not very efficient for local travel in Japan but you can use it for local JR trains and buses in Tokyo. Metro lines are unfortunately not covered.
Hope this helps!
