Hi thank you for the information on the PiTapa card and the pasmo, they sound great do they have something similar for the Kyoto and Nagoya areas? I also plan to go to Yudanaka would that come under the Pasmo card?

Hi there,

The PiTaPa covers Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. However, you'll need to purchase the Manaca card for Nagoya if needed (maybe single tickets are best here). Yudanaka is outside of Tokyo and so would not be accessible with Pasmo. It is a small town and so there is only JR access and no subway.

Please note that these cards are prepaid cards, and while they make travel easier there is no intrinsic discount on travel compared to standard tickets.

Hope this helps!

Yes, you've got it! For Yudanaka you should travel by JR Bullet train to Nagano, and then use local lines for the rest of the way - here's a sample itinerary for you with the non-JR leg listed.

Hope this helps!
