What do we do now about getting a prepaid card as they've stopped doing the Suica card? Do we really have to buy individual tickets for every journey?

Hi there!

Suica cards are more used than ever and are here to stay. I am not sure where you read about Suica going away but I can confirm that they are still usable in many places of Japan.

This certainly implies you can't get one anymore.

Yes I can see the why that could cause some confusion.

The Suica + N'EX package was a special deal where you purchased a Suica card and a ticket for the Narita Express at the same time and you would then get a discount.

Instead you can now buy a Discount Ticket directly for the Narita Express and purchase a Suica card separately at the same time.

More information on Suica can be found HERE.

Hope this clears things up!

Thank you for the info I would recommend you tell them to make the website a bit clearer as us tourists really need things made very clear.
