Hi everyone,

We arrive to Japan on 11th June (leave London on 10th June) and stay until 20th June.
We were thinking about staying in Tokyo for 4 nights, then head to Kyoto for a few days, spend 2 days/1 night in Hakone and then head back to Tokyo to catch our flight back home.

Any advise regarding what we should do travel wise? Should we get a 7 day pass? Does that cover any metro trips within Tokyo? Should we buy a regional pass and if so does Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass cover Hakone?

Thank you in advance for your help :)!

Hi there,

A 7-day JR Pass would be the easier option, as it covers the Tokaido Shinkansen to Kyoto and Hakone. This is way faster than using the Hokuriku Arch Pass and you save a good amount of hours on the train.

The JR Pass would also be cost efficient on this route. With it, you can use the Shinkansen to Odawara station, which is the Shinkansen station for Hakone.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
