Hi Daniel-san,

I am thinking of buying the 3-day pass for Tokyo Subway, but I noticed that the pass can also be used for 2 Lines (the Tokyo Metro Line and the Toei Line).

Therefore, I was wondering if you can help me sort out my itinerary so that I know when will i need to use the Suica card instead of the pass.

Here is my 3-day itinerary in Tokyo:
(I am aware of how overwhelmingly crowded this itinerary is. However, I am planning to not stay too long in each area as I have a photography project) Day 1:
Ueno - Yanesen - Asakusa - Ameyoko -Harajuku - Shinjuku -Shiinamachi - Ueno

Day 2:
Ueno - Shimokitazawa - Akihabara - Ginza - Shibuya - Ueno

Day 3:
Ueno - tokyo tower area (e.g., akabanebashi) - jimbocho - kagurazaka - ginza - roppongi - shimbashi station (to experience the monorail) - Ueno

I was wondering which route(s) will not be able to use the tokyo subway pass (tokyo metro line & Toei line)

Thank you!
very sorry if this is such a confusing question!
I am just trying to thoroughly plan which area should I need the IC card

Hi there,

I don't have the full answer for you, as there are many stops and the Tokyo transportation network is so large. For travel within Tokyo, using Google Maps is your best option. Just search the route you will travel, and Google Maps will tell you want lines you travel on. If it is a Metro or Toei line, then you can use your day pass. In most cases, just 3 trips a day is enough to break even.

An IC card is also really good to have, as it just makes life very convenient.

Lastly, if you're interested in experience a monorail, travel on the Yurakimome to Odaiba, it's a really cool experience going on a driverless monorail, across Tokyo bay.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel-san..
One more question, regarding the JR Pass..
Can I buy it 3 days before coming to Japan? Or should i buy it like 1 month before? Or is there no difference?

I am planning to go to Singapore 3 days before going to Japan, so I am thinking of buying it from there if possible..

Thankyou
