We will be arriving at Osaka (KIX) airport on a United Airlines flight from the United States on October 23, 2013 at approximately 3:20 pm (1520). After our arrival we would like to take the quickest and easiest route to our hotel in Kyoto (the Hotel Granvia). We assume this would be the train from the airport. Please let us know what train would provide the quickest and easiest route to our hotel in Kyoto. Thank you.

Hi there!

The Granvia Hotel is a great stay in Kyoto and located right in the middle / on top of Kyoto station. The best way to get there is to travel from Kansai Airport to Kyoto station directly.

The best way by far to travel to Kyoto from the Airport is to take the Haruka Express directly from Kansai Airport to Kyoto station. This is a very luxurious train that takes you from Kansai Airport - Kyoto in under 80 minutes and also stops at Shin-Osaka.

This train is completely covered by the JR Pass, additionally there's a discount package available called the Haruka + ICOCA package which provides you wish a discounted ticket to Kyoto station and an IC card (a prepaid travel card) which you can use to travel around on all kinds of transport throughout Japan.

I hope this helps!
Daniel
