Will be traveling from Tokyo to Osaka with 3 children and 5 suitcases. Also taking day trips from Osaka to Kyoto and Kobe. Please advise on best and fastest way to do this. We would like to use the Shinkansen but am not sure if buying a JR Rail pass would be worth it. We will be in Japan for13 days, 8 days in Tokyo and 5 days in Osaka.
Please inform us as to which train station to go to in Tokyo ( staying at Hotel New Otani) and Osaka (staying at Hotel Monterey Grasmere)

Hello there,

I was reading your post but it's hard to give you good advice as some things remain unclear. Mainly from where will you fly out of Japan. This could make a bid difference whether a JR Pass would be useful. The Shinkansen is by far the best way to travel from Tokyo - Kyoto and Osaka.

And here for Osaka:

Hi again!

Thank you for the follow up!

Now that I have a better idea of your itinerary, I think that it would be best to buy normal tickets as you travel. A JR Pass would have been great if you made a return to Tokyo for instance.
