Dear staff,
Thanks in advance for any advice..just wanted to ask you about this below as not sure whether to get a one week or 2 week pass..

My itinenary this April:
Arrive Tokyo Sat 6th travel Narita to Ikebukuro - should we just use Suica cards to travel around Tokyo until Tues 9th?

Tues 9th - travel Tokyo to Kyoto
Fri 12th travel Kyoto to Hiroshima
Mon 15th - travel Hiroshima to Yokohama
Tues 16th - Sun 21st
Will explore area and perhaps trip to Fuji or Nikko and back to Narita Sun 21st

Thanks, Anne

Hi there,

Prepaid travel cards are the easiest way of getting around Tokyo using public transport. The JR Pass includes travel on the JR Yamanote Line which covers a lot of central Tokyo.

I would suggest purchasing a 7-day JR Pass for the first half of your trip, given that that is when most of your shinkansen journeys are. Fuji and Nikko etc. are relatively close to Tokyo and so the prices of tickets for those train journeys will be significantly cheaper than long-distance shinkansen tickets.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Alexis for your reply. It seems cheaper according to google maps to pay for our 3 long train trips as we go.
Tokyo -Kyoto -Hiroshima - Yokohama comes to 45000 yen and the pass is 50000 yen.
Does that seem right to you ??
Thanks 🙏
