Hi,

I'll be arriving in Osaka on the 1st of July around 5pm, and I'll also departure on the 16th from Osaka. My current itinerary is:

Day 1 and 2 in Osaka
Day 3 in Nara
Day 4 Day in Hiroshima and Miyajima Island
Day 5, 6 and 7 Days in Kyoto
Day 8 and 9 in Takayama
Day 10 in Kanazawa
Day 11, 12, 13 in Tokyo
Day 14 in Hakone
Day 15 in Kamakura - trip back to Osaka.

Is the 14 Days JR Pass enough for this trip? Is is worth it?

Changes in itinerary are welcomed. Thank you! :)

Hello there,

Yes, I concur. You will be traveling so much that a 14 day JR Pass will help you make good savings. Just be sure to include the trip back to Osaka with it and you are golden.

I think I would also just spend 1 day in Takayama (unless you make a day trip to say Shirakawago or Okuhida) and instead spend 2 days in Kanazawa. I feel that in general Kanazawa is more interesting.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Just remember that your 14 day Pass expires at midnight on the 14th day, so if you’re activate it any time on the 1st July, it with expire at midnight on the 14th. May pay to have a day in Osaka before you activate the pass.
Also, I agree with Daniel re Takayama v’s Kanazawa.
You could spend 1 night in Takayama, then take the Nohi bus to Kanazawa , stopping off in Shirikawago on the way. Then spend 2 nights in Kanazawa which is an interesting coastal city with one of the top 3 gardens in Japan.
Cheers, Heather
