Accessing JR Pass and Hokkaido-Tokyo-Fukuoka Travel

Hello! My family and I are planning to travel to Sapporo-Hakodate-Tokyo-Fukuoka in September for 12 days. Since these are very far from each other, at first I was thinking to purchase JR East and Kyushu passes separately. So far, I was planning to get:

  • JR East South Hokkaido Rail Pass
  • Sapporo-Furano Rail Pass
  • Northern Kyushu Pass (Fly in from Tokyo)

Kyushu is our last stop before we fly out back to the Philippines.

May I please ask for advice? :) Is it cheaper and better to get a JR Pass instead? Thank you!

Hi there,

I don't have enough information to say here, as it really depends on the timing of your travel and where you will stop and stay. Typically a JR Pass would give you very good value going from Sapporo to Tokyo (and even better if you added Kyushu).

If you let me know your travel itinerary, then I can help you better.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hello,

Thank you for replying, Daniel. We will spend 5 days in Sapporo area, 3 days in Hakodate, 3 days in Tokyo (via Shinkansen), and then 4 days in Fukuoka (airplane from Tokyo)
