Hi

We are a family of 3 with an elderly will be visiting Tokyo in early Dec next month :

1) NEX from Narita Airport to/from Shinjuku (home base)

2) 5 days to cover Asakusa, Odaiba, Roppongi, Ginza, Ueno, Shibuya, Harajuku. Is it more cost effective to buy SUICA ?

3) Day trip to Lake Kawaguchico only (not going to Hakone) to view Mt Fuji. We have no plan to take the rope ways or pirate ship.

4) Day trip to Kamakura for autumn foliage

Thanks

Hi there,

Most of your travel is around Tokyo or near Tokyo, in a case like this, it is generally best to simply buy normal tickets or use a prepaid card like Suica.

A JR Pass would be more useful when used for longer trips, such as for visiting Kyoto, Osaka or Hiroshima.

In Tokyo you can also buy a day ticket for the Tokyo Metro, this offers great value if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing.

Hope this helps,
