First time visiting Japan in November- I am planning our trip and wondering if a Japan Rail Pass would be worth it?

My Husband and I will be visiting Japan for the first time in November this year.

In terms of travelling within the country we will be arriving in Tokyo and travelling from Narita Airport to Akasaka-Mistuke, we will be in the city for four nights before travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto, in Kyoto for three nights before travelling to Osaka for two nights, then onto Nagoya for two nights, then to FujiKawaguchiko for two nights and then back to Tokyo (Shibuya) for two nights before flying home out of Narita airport.

We will be travelling with two oversized pieces of luggage which we will need to bring on the trains with us as well.

Would the 14 day Japan Rail pass be worth it for this?

Hi there,

A JR Pass would not help you make savings on this route. So your best option would be to buy normal tickets as you travel.

I do recommend making reservations for your luggage on the train if they are really oversized. Normal suitcases can easily be placed in the overhead compartments but if they are really big, then space is limited.

Kind regards,
Daniel
