Hi there,

I am in Japan for about 10 days on the 30 Sep 2012 and will be buying the JPR pass for 7 days.

My first couple of days will just be sightseeing in Tokyo.

From the 2 Oct 2012 i will spend 2 nights in Kyoto and visit Osaka aswell.

I have just now booked the F1 Japense grand prix, though i will be travellig from Goi station each day on the Saturday and Sunday.

Do i require any other train passes apart from the JPR?

Also i know that it will take roughly 5 hours each way from Goi to F1 circuit, would it be best maybe to book a cheap hotel near the circuit? do you have any suggestions?

Really appreciate your help.

Thanks

Hi there,

To get to Suzuka circuit you should aim to get to JR Kawarada near the Suzuka circuit with your Japan Rail Pass. From Kawarada station you'll need to use the local non-JR Ise Testudo operated line to get to Suzuka Circuit Ino (sometimes written 'SuzukaSakittoIno'). As this is not covered by the rail pass you will have to pay the standard ticket fare of ¥300 each way. From Suzuka Circuit Ino you can easily walk to the circuit.

I think Goi will be too far to let you enjoy your time in Suzuka. How about looking for Cheap hotels in Nagoya and then just doing the local train journey of about 1hr each day? I know the Sunroute hotel is good value and near to JR Nagoya station. You may also want to look at the Dormy Inn and Toyoko inn both near JR Nagoya.

Hope this helps!
