Help on using JRPass with our trip

Hello,

Requesting some help on what to use/buy as I'm a little overwhelmed.

We:
- Land in Tokyo and stay for 3 nights - We travel to Kyoto and stay for 3 nights, and maybe try to go to Nara one of these days - We travel to Hiroshima and stay for 2 nights - We then go to Osaka for 2 nights - We come back to Tokyo for 2 nights

We would also maybe do a day-trip from Tokyo to mount Fiji and travel within Tokyo.

Which pass would you recommend for this? If you buy a pass, does it include travel on local Tokyo service for example

Thanks so much!!!

Hi there,

I'd recommend purchasing a Kansai-Hiroshima Pass starting from your day trip to Nara and ending on your return to Osaka. This would be your most cost-effective option for this portion of your trip, and so for the rest of your journey I'd recommend purchasing your tickets individually.

The JR Pass will cover basic transport in some cities, e.g. JR Buses and some metro lines such as the Yamanote line in Tokyo and the Loop line in Osaka, but if you generally plan on using a lot of public transport in cities I'd suggest picking up a prepaid travelcard such as a SUICA which can be used in multiple cities.

Kind regards,

Alexis

Thanks! And for the rest of the trip you recommend a JRPass or booking individual tickets?
