Hi there,

Lets take a look at the JR costs of your trip from day 3-9. For Day 1-3 you should use the Haruka+ICOCA package:

  1. Kyoto > Kanazawa: ¥6,910 (124mins, 224km)
  2. Kanazawa > Osaka: ¥7,240 (154mins, 267km)
  3. Osaka > Odawara: ¥12,270 (159mins, 472km)
  4. Odawara > Tokyo: ¥1,450 (36mins, 83km)

JR ticket cost: ¥27,870 for 4 legs

As a 7 day JR Pass is only slightly more expensive (¥28,300), I think I'd recommend opting for the JR Pass to retain travel flexibility for this period, but it very much depends on how firm your plans are.

Hope this helps!
