how to go to oirase stream from aomori railway station

From what I could find about it online, is that it is only reachable by bus.
This bus is covered by the JR Pass, so no worry for extra charges!

From Aomori station take the JR Bus to Lake Towada, Oirase is a stop on the way.

You can find more information about the bus here.
There are only a few buses each day, so be sure to plan ahead.

I have some further questions.

1. Should I wait for the bus in front of Aomori Station? Is it easy for me to locate?

2. Should I pre book the bus seat? It is ok for me to book the "to" bus, as I can control when I want to go to Oirase. However, the return bus time is a bit tricky. Depending on the weather and scenery, I could spend a day or a couple of hours. If I do not book the back bus, can I use JR bus directly and get on the bus?

Hi Kelly,

1.) I have not taking the bus myself so I don't know exactly where it departs but Aomori has a Tourist Information that is very helpful, who also speak English, I would recommend asking them for the exact location. Still Aomori is rather small so I don't think it will be hard at all.

2.) The Bus is reservation only, so you have to make a reservation before boarding. I would recommend making reservations back for both times, this may feel a little like over-extending your JR Pass but it is allowed. You can always make one reservation and later come back to do the second if you feel a little uncomfortable.
