Is it worth getting JR passes

We are a group of 4 coming to Japan in November and struggling to decide if we should get JR rail passes. Our rough itinerary is as follows:

7th-10th November, staying in Tokyo
10th November Travel to Kyoto
12th November day trip from Kyoto to Nara
14th November day trip from Kyoto to Osaka
15th November Kyoto to Tokyo
16th November Fly home

We are trying to decide whether it is better (and more cost-effective) to buy JR rail passes or individual tickets.

Hi there,

Your itinerary works well for a JR Pass, but purchasing your tickets individually is likely to be your most cost-effective option, so I'd either recommend you to purchase individually or look into a Hokuriku Arch Pass, which would cover your itinerary at a lower price but with longer travel times.

Kind regards,

Alexis
