Hello! I will be travelling in japan with my partner from sept25th-oct1.

Starting in fukuoka, we then go to osaka (day trip to nara), kyoto, and end in tokyo. Our train travel days all fall within a 7 day window, hence why I was looking into the 7 day rail pass.

I was curious as to whether getting the JR pass or simply buying the one way shinkansen tickets would be more cost effective. I was having some trouble pricing it out! Thanks so much :)

Hi there,

Apologies for the delay in reponse, yes a 7-day JR Pass would be worth it.

The cost of a one way Hakata (Fukuoka) to Kyoto is 16,130 + one way Kyoto - Tokyo ¥ 14,370. Which is more than the cost of a 7-day pass already. Add all the extra travel and you've got a great deal!

Kind regards,
Daniel
