Hello there,

Could I please ask whether it would be cost effective to purchase a JR pass for the below itinerary or whether it would cost the same if we bought tickets on the go whilst in Japan?

May 16th - Land at Osaka Kansas Airport and travel straight to Kyoto
May 17th - Kyoto (in Kyoto we plan to do Day trips to Nara, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Fushimi)
May 18th - Kyoto
May 19th - Kyoto
May 20th - Kyoto
May 21st - Kyoto
May 22nd - Travel from Kyoto to Fuji (hotel 5 min walk to Fujikyu Highland train station)
May 23rd - Fuji (Shibazakura Festival)
May 24th - Fuji
May 25th - Travel from Fuji to Tokyo (Shinjuku)
May 26th - Tokyo
May 27th - Tokyo
May 28th - Tokyo
May 29th - Tokyo
May 30th - Tokyo (Need to get from Shinjuku to Tokyo Narita early morning for flight at 10:30am)

Hi there,

The better way here would be to buy normal tickets for your trip. A JR Pass works great if you make a returrn Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. You are effectively traveling one way with a stop at Fuji.
