Hi,

We are planning a 10 day trip with the first 3 days in Tokyo. we then plan to go to Kyoto and use the JR pass for trips ex Kyoto to Osaka, Nara etc farthest being to Hiroshima and finishing at Osaka from where we fly out. My question is is JR pass for 7 days better or some regional pass ?

Secondly, does one need to get a visa before buying the pass or is it the other way around, ie buy the pass and then apply for visa ?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I recommend a 7 day JR Pass for this trip, for the simple reason that there is no regional pass that covers your trip. The 7 day JR Pass will give you good savings too compared to buying normal tickets and is valid for all the places you visit.

You can buy the pass any time, no need to apply for a visa beforehand.

Kind regards,
Daniel
