Hello,
My buddy and I will be going to Japan for 16 days in March/April. We are planning on getting a green car pass and I'm thinking a 7-day pass will help us get near the break-even stage over a 14 day. We plan on going from Tokyo (Akihabara) to Hiroshima and Iwakuni. On at least 1 leg we will be upgrading to Nozomi to save some time. I know upgrading to Nozomi between TYO and Hiroshima is 6,500 JPY, that's fine.
Other than that we also plan on going to at least Mt. Fuji for some pictures and walking around the town near it. We may also take a few longer trips but at this point I'm not sure what they may be. My real question is, at this point with what I have described above, would this pay for itself vs just paying full price for a Nozomi Tokyo/Hiroshima round trip ticket + anywhere else we may go? Trying to find Nozomi ticket prices is a head scratcher, I can see with a normal pass it looks like I would be ok. We will also take regular trains and separate subways as well.
I will add that we wanted green car for the extra space and nicer seats and electrical plugs they provide on the journey. We do realize we'd save about $150/ea by going regular class vs green. We were originally going to do 14 day pass but I'm not sure we'd ever get near that much money.
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated :)
