Hey there,
Would be great to get some advice on my trip overall..I am actually going to be in Japan for 3 weeks in total and having trouble deciding what the cheapest option is for travel. I’ve heard mixed reviews on whether the rail pass is worth it or not. This is my whole itinerary:
10 days in Tokyo including 2 nights in Mashiko
2 nights in Kyoto
5 nights mount Ikoma-Nara
2 nights omiimatsu, Shiga
1 night ogotoonsen Shiga
2 nights naoshima Kagawa pref.
3 nights Tokyo then to Hanaeda airport
Thanks so much!

Hi there,

I would recommend purchasing tickets individually in your case. If you choose to include more in your itinerary you can check our JR Fare Calculator to see if the JR Pass is the right option for you.

Hope this helps!

Thankyou. And do I purchase these tickets when I get there? I’m guessing a 14 day pass for Tokyo would be best?

Ok great. What would the pass be called that I’d need for spending 10 days travelling around Tokyo, plus the 3 days at the end? Just so I know what to ask for when I first get there. I’d just be taking one trip out to mashiko during my time in tokyo
