We are travelling to Japan in March just want to check which rail pass is best for us please
2nd March arrive Narita Tokyo - travel to Asakusa Tokyo one night stay.
3rd March depart Ueno station destined for Nozawa Onsen in Nagano
8th March depart Nozawa for Kyoto
12th March depart Kyoto for Narita Tokyo
Any advice on correct pass gratefully received!

Hi Amalie,
A 7 day JR Pass would have been really nice if you did the trip Nozawa - Kyoto - Tokyo within 7 days. As it stands now, there's too much time in between and you also do not cover enough travel for a 14 day JR pass to help you make savings.
At this point I would suggest buying normal tickets.
You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.
