How much time it will take each segment if visiting according the following itinerary:

Monday Feb. 27: Tokyo to Takayama (departure in the afternoon or evening)
Tuesday Feb. 28: Takayama to Kanazawa (departure in the afternoon)
Wednesday Mar. 1: Kanazawa to Kyoto (departure in the afternoon)
Thursday Mar 2: Kyoto to Osaka (departure in the afternoon)
Friday Mar 3: Osaka
Saturday Mar 4: Osaka to Nara (morning) and then Nara to Tokyo (afternoon)

Could you provide some timetable that fits the itinerary below?
Would be the Japan Rail Pass appropriate for me?

Thanks,
R.

Hello there,

Travel time depends on what time of day you travel, route taken and connections used. I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia. This way you can find any route yourself and make a good planning for travelling around Japan.

A JR Pass would give you very good savings and I would certainly use a 7 day JR Pass for your trip.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
