Transfer to Narita Airport

Hello,

I would appreciate if you could provide me with some information on the following matters.

I am leaving Tokyo Narita Airport at 11:35AM on 29 August (Wednesday) and was wondering wether it would be preferable to stay at a hotel near the airport or at Tokyo. The following question came up.

Since I indend to take the most of my last day of Tokyo but do not wish to wake up very early on the day I leave (and therefore prefer to stay close to the airport), I have unfortunately learded that the last NEX train leavesTokyo Station close to 8PM. Since I would prefer to stay that night closer to the airport, I was wondering whether there is any JR-operated train that leaves Tokyo Station later for Narita Airport on the evening of 28 August and if so, what would the schedule be and if reserving a seat is required.

I have a JR Pass and was intending to use it in this trip to the airport.

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

Hi there,

I think I'd prefer to stay closer to the airport too. Although trains to Narita Airport stop relatively early, the last trains to nearby Narita town (where most of the hotel options are) leave Tokyo around 10:40pm, arriving into Narita town at around 12am. As this is a commuter train you won't need a reservation.

As you'll need to be at the airport around 9:35am, from Narita town itself you can either get a shuttle bus if provided by the hotel, or use this itinerary to get you from Narita town station to Narita Airport in around 11mins for ¥230.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the help, Mari.

I think I will do as you say. I hope that there are easy accesses from Narita Station to hotels nearby (since I assume Narita Station is not the airport station).

On the other hand, are there any lockers for luggage at Tokyo Station where I can leave my luggage while spending mu day at Tokyo? And do you know the cost of these?

Thanks, Mari.

Regards.

Hi there,

Yes - Narita station is not the airport station - for Airport you should use 'NARITA AIRPORT TERMINAL 1 (or) 2" in Hyperdia. Narita is not a massive town and there are many hotels near the station (for precisely the reasons you are looking for ;) ).

There are many luggage lockers at Tokyo station. Here's a map with all the locations marked on it (the key mark). The prices for these lockers range from ¥300-¥500/day depending on the size. We have a good blog post on luggage lockers, sizes and prices here.

Hope this helps!
