Travelling from Tokyo to Nagano

Hi
We are travelling over Christmas to Japan - skiing in Nozawa Onsen.
We need to get from Narita Airport, to Nagano, via train. We are being picked up in Nagano.

I am looking at the train time tables in HyperDia and know we should go from Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station, to Tokyo Station, to Nagano Station.
Am wondering if these are all covered by the Japan Rail Pass, and whether it would be value for money to simply purchase 2 passes for the return journey for 2 people? And can we purchase these before we arrive in Japan?

Hi there,

If you only go to Nagano, then it would be cheaper to buy normal tickets or look at a JR East Nagano-Niigata pass.

The JR Pass also covers all your travel but you would need to do a bit more travel before it pays off.

Kind regards,
Daniel
