Hi,

I am preparing a trip in japan (single), and on various websites I see different prices.

arriving Tokyo Sep 9
Tokyo to Nagano Sep 10
daytrip to Matsumoto (so a return ticket I guess) Sep 11
Nagano to Kanazawa Sep 13
Kanazawa to Nagoya Sep 14
daytrip to Gifu (so a return ticket) Sep 16
Sekigahara Batllefield Memorial Museum (can I get there by train, and is it valid with JR Pass?)
Nagoya to Okayama Sep 18
daytrip to Kurashiki (return ticket)
Okayama to Matsue Sep 20
day trip to Izumo Taisha Shrine
Matsue to Fukuoka (Hakata) Sep 22 (via Shin-Yamaguchi or via Okayama - which is the most convenient one?)
Fukuoka to Nagasaki Sep 24
Nagasaki to Kumamoto Sep 26
Kumamoto to Beppu Sep 28
and while on Kyushu also visits to Dazaifu Tenmangu (return ticket I suppose)
and Yutoku Inari Shrine (is it better getting there from Nagasaki or from Fukuoka?)

Is a 21-day suitable for this or is it better value to take a Japan JR Pass 14-days + a 7-days Kyushu Pass?

Thank you in advance!

Hello there,

The price difference between a 14 day JR Pass and 21-day JR Pass is fairly small, so I would go with that instead of a 14 day pass and regional tickets. Will you also be making a return to Tokyo or depart from Kyushu?

For the Yutoku Inari Shrine, I would take a local JR train to Hizen-Kashima Station and either bus or taxi from there.

Overall, very nice trip btw! You've got some of the best Kyushu highlights in there!

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel-san,

Thanks for your quick reply. My flight back home leaves from Fukuoka, so that's why I didn't include a return trip to Tokyo. I will be like 25 days there, so that'll pass the 21-days JR Pass unfortunately. Area all these stages covered by the JR Pass? And how about Sekigahara? JR train (covered) or local (non-covered) or better by bus?

Thanks
