Hi all,
I will be embarking on a 17 days long trip in Japan (Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo).

This is my tentative itinerary.
Day 1-3: Kyoto
Day 4-7: Osaka
Day 8-16: Tokyo

However, I will be going on day trips while I am in Tokyo (Hiroshima, Tama, Yokohama, Ashikaga.)
Hence, would like to check which type of pass should I be getting for this trip.

Thank you so much! (:

Hi there,

I think it makes sense to get a better idea of what places you want to visit as day trips before making your final decision on a JR Pass. Just adding a trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima can mean the difference between a 7 day and 14 day JR Pass, while Kyoto to Nara does not make a lot of difference in cost.

I was also wondering, at what airport will you arrive? This can also make a big difference in travel cost to Kyoto.

From my first impression a 7 day JR Pass could be enough with a big of strategic planning but a 14 day JR Pass could be a good option too. I can let you know if you have more detail when you make the day trips and such.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for replying.
I'll be landing at Narita airport, and going straight to Kyoto to stay for three nights. At Kyoto, Ill be going to Hiroshima and Nara as day trips and then depart to Osaka on the day. From Osaka, I'll be going to Tokyo on the eigth day with some day trips to Yokohama, Ashikaga, Hakone.. I'll be departing from Narita airport as well.

Please help advise on this
Thank you!

Diana
